New Installed Pro-Comp 4"
New Installed Pro-Comp 4"
Hey guy/gals
So I recently finished an install of a 4" suspension on my 2003 SD.
Install went fairly smooth for doing the job solo. However after the job was finished I noticed the front axle is pushed forward quite a bit!! I installed the leafs just like the stock springs were installed with the large spring eye up front and the smaller in the rear shackle.
I'm assuming I did this right but question whether or not the axle should have shifted so far? Here is a recent side photo that clearly shows the forward stance.

Anyone experience this after a 4" lift?
Thanks in advance

the question is not did you install it the same way it came apart but did you install it the way the instructions told you to? i would check that first before you start to freak out.
Yes I installed the lift the way instructed to. No one is freaking out. Just asking for some help not unnecessary comments!
Thanks

Hey Griff,
Everything checks out. Pinion angle is down, but no more than expected after adding a 4" lift. I just got the truck back from the shop after getting an alignment. They didn't see anything wrong or out of place. The truck drives very well.
Thanks for your response and help
Cheers

thanks wandell,
I took the truck out after its alignment and it drives very well. Think the pro comp springs ride much nicer than stock. Was worried I'd get a stiffer ride, but feel its softer.
Few things need to be worked out still. Turns out my factory block is 1 and 7/8" and not 2.5". So the rear sits a bit lower than I'd desire. I was under the impression SD's had either a 2.5 or 3.5 inch factory block? Anyone know why I'd have one smaller?
Will most likely wait till the front settles then deside on how big of a single block to go with. Currently thinking a 4" from readylift.
I also have a minor driveline vibration on launch so I'll be looking at tapered blocks are shims. Might even consider Traction bars? Drove the truck at 70 mph and didn't feel any driveline vibration in the carrier so that is good.
Overall for the price and ride quality I am quite pleased with Pro-Comp
Thanks again for the comments and help
