f250 shifter problem

Hi, Im new here and a new owner of a 2000 f250 4x2 5.4l automatic. The shifter has a lot of play in it. So I looked under the dash and noticed theres a screw/bolt that goes from the from aluminum bracket into the steel looking bracket that the cables attach too. The aluminum bracket is broke and the screw is gone. Does anyone know what bracket that is? or have a diagram?

Thanks,
Chad

Hmm, that is interesting. Normally the shifter slop is from the two brass colored torque screws are loose.

Can you get a picture?

I dont have a cam. But the metal/aluminum looking metal that is broke is on the side of the shifter shaft and right above the broken screw mount/hole is the two brass screws you are talking about. The screw mount that is broke runs into the metal plate that the shifter cable and shift indicator cable is hooked too

Thanks,
Chad

Well, time to hit up the junkyard. You'll have quite a few choices of vans and trucks to pull the part from.
