97 F250 towing/hauling capacities?

Hi there, does anyone have any numbers on the 97 F250 for towing and hauling? I'm looking to get one, and it would have a 351 because diesel's just too expensive right now. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

Looking around, I see the 351 only made 210hp and 325 torque. Is that to the wheels does anyone know, and what's a decently priced (cheap) way to boost that up some?

What are you pullin'? They really can tote a lot, just not real quick. People have been really spoiled in the last ten years with big boost turbo diesels. Other than a supercharger, you ain't gonna push much more power out of a 351. Best bet if you want a gasser is to find the 460. Both are gonna get the same crappy single digit mileage pullin' big, but you will actually be able to get out of the way with something runnin' a 460.

I'd mainly be pulling my 16' boat, but would like to upgrade to a larger boat, and would also like to haul some cars or my jeep...so shouldn't be any more than 6000lbs including the trailer, and that is absolute maximum.

10k from what I have seen. I dont know your budget but you can probably find a little newer half ton that can tow your loads and be cheaper to operate, or even a little newer diesel. Not so sure you need an F250 to tow 6k

Shoot, I do that with a '79 halfton and brake controller.

We tow a 20ft Master Craft with a Tahoe and I want to say it tips the scales at around 7500lbs on a tandem axle trailer. I used to tow the same boat with my F150 when I had it.

I wouldn't mind a diesel...I know it's a little overkill, but I know it would be able to handle it without too much wear on the engine and suspension parts.
