Trade in f150 for f250 7.3 diesel?
Trade in f150 for f250 7.3 diesel?
I am currently torn on what to do and would like some advice. I currently own a 2010 F150 SCREW. It is my daily driver but I also use it to tow my camper. I have a 29BHH Sprinter Select. Recently a 2001 F250 7.3 diesel came up for sale. It is a Lariat with lots of bells and whistles. What I am concerned about is the mileage. It has 211,000 miles. I know diesels run forever but I am concerned. If I did trade my 2010 in for this truck it would lower my price and I would not worry so much when I tow the camper. Any thoughts or suggestions?
As long as it has been maintained, the mileage isn't anything to worry about.
If you think you will be happy going to a vehicle that is 10 years older, rides like ***, is noisy, hates cold, requires fuel that is $1/gallon more, and 15 quart oil changes, then go for it.
What do you mean by "it will lower my price?" What are they asking for the truck?

Take what it cost's for brakes, U-joints and everything else on an F150 and triple the repair bill. Are you ready for that? The last brake job on my truck cost me 1k for 4 rotors and all the pads.

If I were in your position, I'd go ahead and trade your truck in for the diesel *AND* an economy car to use as a daily driver. Only use the diesel when you tow and you need a truck for whatever reason.

it's high mileage. The motor is good for eternity with maintenance. But the truck surrounding the motor is old, and stuff wears out. You will be nickel and dimed to death for awhile with that truck. Eventually you might get it in decent shape and be repair free for some time.
I'd bet money the prior owner sold it because alot of stuff is due. Like ball joints, brakes, fluid flushes...if it is the auto trans, the 4r100 may be dying. It wasn't exactly the best trans in a SD

Yeah... the 30 MPG I got in my car last tank was a lot better than 16 MPG @ $4/gallon.

i priced all 4 rotors and pads (hawks and powerslots) for under 700
That's paying a friend that owns a shop to do it because at the time I didn't have access to my tools, impact and big air compressor.
I did. I had an 05 f150 and when my dad decided to get a new 250, i got his 7.3, and he traded my 150 in for his 2011 250. I dont regret it because i love diesel trucks. Yeah, the are noisy and arent the smoothest riding. The fuel is about 80 cents higher but you i get 20 mpg in my 7.3 now, city and highway combined. And it would be much easier on your truck towing with a 7.3. I also farm, so that gives me a better reason of why i need a diesel. Its just up to you. You can also add so many new parts to a diesel to to make it a powerhouse :P haha.
