Question 2011+ 6.7 Powerstroke and new tranny review

So tell me how the new Ford diesel is doing. Any big issues y'all are running into or know of? How about the Transmission, I'm reading about some big issues there with some cases ford buying the truck back. Any problem areas in these new HD trucks at all. I'm not buying yet just curious how the new Diesel is doing with the last motor being such a POS. I know many guys with that last motor and every one has said no more fords for a while, next truck will have a cummins they say.

A lot of places that used to use diesels no longer are. Where my dad works at Logan, my campus and other similar places are ceasing buying diesels where possible. My dad said a few of the 2011 6.7's had big issues. They are buying gas from here on out. At my school (I work there and a student) my department buys the campus vehicles (all Fords) and gas from here on out. If it's not seeing heavy heavy work, they are big trouble and are constantly in the shop. The 04 6.0 we have has literally be in the shop every few months and (no exaggeration) upwards of 25k in repairs.

The new 6.7 has basically been flawless. Go to the diesel boards and read. You will be bored. The discussions are about minor things. The trans has had some issues, but that is hit and miss. They aren't falling apart, but merely exhibiting shifting issues.

Keep in mind, people rarely come to the boards to brag, moreover to complain. Once a complaint hits, others chime in and one problem becomes a major discussion that seems to be plaguing every truck, but in reality, it is a small percentage of the units sold.

I speak from experience. For close to 25 years, I have logged close to 5 times the yearly mileage of the average Joe. I have had three 7.3L's, two 6.0L's, and one 6.4L. Despite all the horror stories, ALL of mine were flawless. I would take every one again over any of my gas rigs. The 6.4L was probably the best engine, but at 45k miles, the fuel economy tanked. The 6.7L is proving to be great, but the EPA has snuffed out the real chances for what a diesel used to be. That said, I am currently looking at a new F-350 diesel, with an F-150 HD Payload with the EcoBoost...

I'm aware of and have read many of the other sites, but thought I'd ask here too

See it's hit or miss, where my dad works they have been in the shop a lot. Are you planning on working it/towing? I think that is where you will either have issues or not

You might be ok then. The age of owning a diesel "just because" is becoming a foolish and expensive ordeal. As long as you plan to use it for it's capabilities, then do it. If not, get a 6.2. The motors are just too damn complicated and ruined with all the emissions crap.

If I wanted/needed a Super Duty for whatever reason, I'd be looking for a good used MANUAL transmission gas V-10.

No problems with my manual tranny 6.4L after deleting the emissions and tuning.
