Hi, My dad has been bugging & bugging me to ask so i am asking. My dad has a 2000 Ford Excursion with the 6.8 V10. The truck runs and drives fine with a full tank but whenever there is 1/4 of gas or less in the tank the truck will just crank but no start.

Says the mechanic shop says the fuel pump pressure seems fine. truck has a new battery as well as plugs and wires.

Again it runs and drives fine once started but this problem is frustrating. Now if he lest the truck sit for say 20 minutes it will start right up no matter how much gas is in the tank.

So:

Full tank = Always Start
1/4 tank = only starts after sitting 20 minutes or so

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
