Modded or Not How to tell ?

My 1999 F250 is consideribly quicker that the 2000 F250 they have one the lot. It is my understanding that the new trucks are quicker than my early 99 model. My question is how do I tell if my truck has been tuned and what tune? I could not remove the computer but I did notice the screws holding it were missing. I have seen many modded trucks blow major black smoke when you get on the throttle but mine blows very little if any. The truck was previously used at a work truck and I would not think they would tune a work truck. Thank you

Without having the tuner that actually tuned the truck there is no way to know what program is on the truck. If you have a tech hook up a scanner at work and it can't read the PCM then its most likely been tuned.

If you look at the aux port on the PCM and there is a small chip on it with a wire coming off it then it has a chip. If you just see the contacts on the PCM board itself then it doesn't have a chip.
