Raptor05121,
Do you know alot about diesels? Is this commercial rig? Sounds like it. I'm betting it has idle control that raises the idle after it sits running for a short period of time. Check it out and let me know.

I have battled this issue myself I would love to own a diesel. I have a 2005 F150 now and like it, but I would love a 250. I have a camper that I pull a few times a year, and make some long trips out west to hunt each year pulling a trailer.
I can't justify the extra cost, but would love the power when towing and the fuel mileage

Why can't we have the best of both worlds and have a smaller diesel engine in a half ton truck? The rest of the world does it!

Ford has decided to go with the Ecoboost in the F-150 instead of a diesel.

I was just reading in one of my latest issues of Diesel Power that Cummins, Nissan, and the DOE are working together to come out with a new lite duty diesel engine for the Titan that is supposed to get a 40% increase over a gasser and meet the new Tier 2 Bin 2 diesel emissions standards. So don't give up hope the we will see a smoker in a 1/2 ton truck just yet.

Here is a link to the article.
