Stalling, help please

Hey everyone, my dad owns a 2004 F-250 Super Duty with the 5.4 V8 gas engine.

He has told me that when he's been plowing with his truck and shifting from drive to reverse(visa versa) it would stall on him. His check engine light is not on so it doesn't throw any codes. He is thinking it maybe the fuel filter but I figure I would ask you all for your help. If you need more info let me know. Thank you.

55 views and not one comment?? I'm wondering if you guys either agree with him or have any other suggestions on what it might be.

I suppose it could be the fuel filter. It could also be a sticky IAC if it has a cable throttle, or a dirty throttle body if it has an electronic throttle.

How many miles on the truck? Has it ever had the COPS, plugs changed or the MAF cleaned?

He only has about 60k on it, and I was thinking the MAF myself. I'm not sure where that would be on his truck. I only know where it is on mine. I think he has changed the plugs and wires sometime last year but I'll ask him just to make sure.

Since this is a plow truck when was the last time the battery or batteries have been changed. I know weak batteries can cause lots of weird things to happen on the newer trucks. I am guessing that this happens more when he is in a snow bank picking the plow up and then going to back out? If this is a single battery set up I would look at a HD alternator and dual batteries if he does not already have it but being that the truck is a gasser I am guessing not.

So I just asked him he has never changed the plugs on his truck but he says he has never had a misfire and it runs well besides the whole stalling.

dsq - I asked him if it was just happening when he was plowing and he told me it happens other times as well.
