Door lock help on 2011 F350

Hey guys, I have a question that I'm hoping I can get some help with. My department at work got all brand new 2011 F350's. I work for a Metro water dept. so I'm in and out of the truck all the time, and I like to leave the truck running with the doors locked. The problem is when I try and lock the door with the truck running it will not let me do it. I understand why, but none the less I want to make the truck stop doing that. Does anyone know how I can go about fixing this problem? Thanks for the help.

Is there not a option under the setup menu on the dash?

Does your truck have a keypad on the outside, if so simply push the 7/8 and 9/0 buttoms together(the last 2 buttons on right if horizontal, or bottom two buttons if vertical). I do this all the time in my truck.

With truck running open door, exit truck, shut door, press buttons, door is now locked. Go do whatever, come back type in code, door unlocks all while engine is running.

One tip is to try this with the window down first to make sure you have access, just in case Ford changed something with the locks on the newer trucks.

I would suspect since it's a fleet vehicle it's unlikely they spent the extra money on those added options like the keypad.

I do what Blang said all the time. My truck is a 2006 XLT trim level.

I agree, but maybe he does have the keypad since he is asking us how to lock his doors AND keep the truck running. How else would he be able to get back in the truck if the doors did infact lock when he hit lock?? Im assuming he has the keypad on the outside of the door and plans to use it, IF he could just figure out how to get the doors to lock LOL.

I assumed he carried to sets of keys or a fob like the cops around here do in the colder months.

Do the fob's work while the vehicle is running? I got locked out of a company car(Ford Focus) because I found out to late the fob doesn't work while the vehicle is runnning!
