Project Mean Green
I'm starting this thread to document my latest project truck. I know I like reading threads like this so I thought maybe others would too. It won't be a fast moving project, but I'll try to keep it updated.
This is a new to me 2001 F250 xlt 4x4 Diesel. It is a supercab with a 8' box. I got this truck really cheap because it had no transmission in it.

It's a bit rough around the edges and I'm looking for a work truck so that's fine.
Here is the first mod. BTS transmission. Worth way more than the truck. It cost me a fortune to get it up here. I'm hoping the the truck is worthy of it!

More later.

I have guages to go in it first.

Well I bolted up the transmission last night. It went pretty smooth once I got it in under the truck. I bought an adapter for putting a transmission on a floor jack and it sits quite high. I jacked up the front of the truck and put it on 12 ton jack stands at their highest setting. I still had to take off one running board to get the trans under the truck. I'm scrapping the running boards anyway.
Here's the jack.

If you are going to do alot of transmission work I would recommend a proper transmission jack. This was not ideal and a bit tippy.
I am keeping track of my garage work in this log book my wife bought for me.

I still have to put the transfer case and driveshafts on, as well as flush the cooler and such. I'm going hunting tommorow so maybe I'll do some work on it tomorrow night.

Well I've been pretty busy with work and such so I didn't have alot of time to work on the truck. Transmission is in and everything hooked up. I still haven't received the Shaeffer's synthetic ATF for it (I'm kind of isolated up here) so I bought a 5 gallon pail of Mobil Super ATF for now.
Here are the guages I'm putting in.

I took out the trans cooler tonight to bring it to work and flush it. It is a bit of a pain to get at and involved a bit of disassembly to the front of the truck.

I plan on replacing it eventually but will just clean it inside and out for now.
Does it look dirty?

More updates as they become available.....

Steamed and flushed the trans cooler for about 11 hours today at work.
dlenkewich - no front end conversion at this time. Maybe new headlights or something later on.
Zaairman - They only used a little bit of salt here last year on a trial basis. Usually it's to cold for salt to work so they just use sand. However, this truck came from another area where the do use quite a bit of salt. It's mostly just surface rust though.

If you were close you could have them. They are not worth shipping. I'll probably take them to the dump.
