Thinking about switching

I have a 07 f150 2wd 5.4 w/41k. I have come upon a 04 F250 FX4 5.4 gas not sure about the miles, I have not drove it yet. I know it's not diesel but I don't really need or want one. I just want a F250. Anyone with a 5.4 tell me the good and bad. I'll take anyone's opinion. Thanks

Most will probably tell you to go for the V10 if you plan to do any towing, hauling, mountain driving, etc. Most say the 5.4 is underpowered in the F250. However, if you're just looking for the "cool factor" of owning an F-250, and don't do a lot of towing\hauling, then you will probably be happy with it. Hell, I drive a V6 F-150, but I know what to expect of its performance and what it is and isn't capable of. Is this F-250 FX4 a regular cab?

Why switch to an older truck with the same motor? What is your reasoning? May help us help you.

If your going to do the swap go for an 05+ to get coil springs instead of leafs, a better looking front end, and a nicer looking dash.

as for the 5.4, if its a 4 door IMO you will regret it. the 5.4 in an F250 is like a v6 in an F150. If its a 2 door it might not be as bad but the day i drove one it was a turd.

Well - think about your current truck - add a thousand or so pounds. Yes, the 5.4L will get the job done....not a thrill, but...what is the gear ratio? that is a huge for this motor...4:10+ hopefully. If ya get it...right on
