F250 Tow Help

Were running a 2004 f250 supercab 4x4 with the v10 and 3.73 limited slip, have been towing a 32 foot 5th wheel with dry weight of 11000 lbs. I just ran into a sweet deel on a 36 foot 5ver but dry its 14200. lbs Am I okay or do I need to regear to 4.3 will that be okay? or Do i have to pass on the deal.

You are already over rated max at 11k (unless it's a dualie) and a gear swap won't help you, even a dualie can't handle the new one. You need a F-450 to pull that thing.

The truck can pull it and handle it decent. I've seen worse.. That would be on the edge with me and a V10. I know my dad has an 03 CC SB v10 and he has a 28 and a 32 5ther and it handles them just fine. Just the tranny holds either 3 or overdrive too long when pulling it. Rather then that it pulls and stops just fine..

2004 Super Duty F-250/350 — Fifth-Wheel Towing
d = 3.73:1 axle ratio
f = 4.30:1 axle ratio
i = manual transmission
j = automatic transmission

F-250/350 SuperCab 4WD SRW 6.8L V-10 9,900 d,i
F-250/350 SuperCab 4WD DRW 6.8L V-10 9,600 d,i
F-250/350 SuperCab 4WD SRW 6.8L V-10 10,400 d,j
F-250/350 SuperCab 4WD DRW 6.8L V-10 10,100 d,j

So, best case is 10400. He's already over that with his 32 footer DRY. Now you say he's okay adding another 3400#? I don't think that's a very good idea.

Now, regearing to 4.30's will NOT legally increase the load ratings, but here is the same truck with 4.30's:

F-250/350 SuperCab 4WD SRW 6.8L V-10 13,400 f,i
F-250/350 SuperCab 4WD DRW 6.8L V-10 13,100 f,i
F-250/350 SuperCab 4WD SRW 6.8L V-10 13,400 f,j
F-250/350 SuperCab 4WD DRW 6.8L V-10 13,100 f,j

Still over max load, dry.

Well if you're not comfortable pulling it then don't. I was just merely sharing my opinion. BTW does everyone go by the books. Even thoe my truck is a 05 6.0 and is different from his, I pull 13K off the rear and more then 15,500 off the GN. And I feel comfortable doing it. He asked if he would recommend it and I said that is getting close. Its not like he's pulling a F450 load behind it.

It may pull it ok, but if DOT makes him run across the scales, he'll be SOL.

DOT here is strict but mainly on larger trucks. I never see a camper puller pulled over. As long as your GVW is under, tires are of the correct load range, lights work and have the safety chains/break away cable is hooked you should be fine.

But that won't be the case here.

To all that answered my post thank you, although I agree my truck could pull it the deciding factor was if I was in a accident and somebody died ccould I ever look at myself in the mirror without thinking my being over weight caused it... so with that in mind bought a 2010 F350 6.4L Deisel Duelly 4.1 gears boy is she pretty and can tow a 18000 lb 5ver
