Sup folks, i have a '03 f250 SCAB. Thats the extent of the fancys. I want to put new rims and tires on it. Can i get away with 18" rims with 285s? rubbing? you guys seem to know everything. If anyone has any pics of trucks that have this done i would love to see what im batting with.

You need to worry more about the overall diameter of the tire more than just the width. The 285 in the tire size refers to the width in mm.

A 285/65/18 is ~33" tall and should fit fine as long as the offset isn't anything wild.

A 285/65/20 is ~35" tall and will rub without some sort of lift.

I know a fella running a 305/70/18 that is 35" tall on his 07 350 - it doesn't rub (but it's the 05+ coil front set-up)..so one should consider both diameter and width together.

check tire specs - example:

I am actually thinking a 285/75/18 will be perfect for me

I have 295/75R16s on stock rims with no rubbing. stock 03 f250 reg cab.
Also Mud tires will rub before all terrains usually because of the lugs. I have BFG all terrains.

You can run a 305/50/20 with no issues. I currently have 285/75/16s on my truck and with my Eagle wheels, they rub the inner fender when I turn all the way to the left, but only a little. When these tires were on the stock wheels, I had no issues with rubbing.

nope, grey one is bone stock, as far as suspension goes. It's an 03, the black one is an 02.
Keep in mind if you go with aftermarket rims they will probably be wider and may rub.
