Switching to diesel Super Duty! And air lift questions!

I'm going to try to trade my f150 for a f250 super duty, an older model maybe 02-05. What should I look for when getting a diesel as far as mileage vs price and mechanical things? Also, If I get one I was considering an air lift over a normal lift so that I can still pull a gooseneck. What companies make these and normally how much are they?

02-early 03 will have a 7.3
05+ have coils instead of leafs

get a carfax and oasis report (get it from a dealership) for any truck your seriously interested in. especially for a 03-05 6.0l.

if you get a 6.0 popular problems are egr and headgaskets/studs. if you found one with both studs and egr delete done thats a big plus and will save you money down the road.

05 has a different front clip and the interior is updated a bit as well.

If you're used to an F150, you'll find that super duties ride and drive like crap. But I REALLY like my "new" 2003 F350 FX4 V10. I work it HARD! Mileage is bad, but it is a 4 ton truck, not a prius. If you are concerned about getting 10 mpg, then you don't need a super duty. I don't know how people get 19 mpg with them. I've never seen it. Best I've seen is ~13 mpg, but I usually get between 8-11 mpg.(running 45% ethanol) I think my uncle's '01 7.3 psd got ~16 on a trip to the beach once. But you probably won't get near that daily driving. Especially with a lift and big tires.

If he's doing an air lift then the factory ride doesn't factor in too much. Though I'll agree with you that its not a silky smooth ride, but its a far cry better than the OBS trucks. I haven't had the chance to drive one of the newer Dodges alot, but the 03 3500 I test drove back in Nov rode nice. The Chevys with the IFS ride really nice.

For an air lift about the only place that does it is Kelderman.
