Diesel isnt for everyone, test drive one and see if thats what you want as a daily driver because both are capable of handling your towing. I went with gas this time around because I was in the fire company and didnt want to always run out, start it up and go with the diesel, specially in the winter. Now Im no longer a member and have a nice garage to put it in so my next will probably be a diesel.

Nope thats false.

I just traded my 06 powerstroke on this f150. So far no looking back. But then again i tow about twice a year.

The reason i traded the diesel in on the f150 - Comfort, cost to maintain, turbo lag, and most of all, the constant fear of the 6.0 coming un-glued.

So short, unloaded trips won't hurt a diesel?

No not at all. Diesels can do everything gas engines do.

That's funny. I read on powerstroke.org that short trips that don't allow the engine to reach operating temp are bad for the turbo and EGR.

The more time I spend on the org, the more I think that it's all a bunch of 16 year olds who don't know squat.

I've got a F150 with a 5.4...it lacks torque..I'd procharge it if it didn't have so many miles, but this isn't a truck I want to pour thousands into, I'm buying a diesel next. Getting a used 08 6.4 powerstroke and doing spartan's full package with mbrp 5" with 6" single tip same day I get it too. Go diesel, you'll regret it otherwise. Definitly do your research though. You should know about 16 qt oil changes and 5k mile fuel filter changes, etc.

im going to haveto disagree with everyone else here...short trips that dont allow a deisel to get up to temp are definatly not a good thing. 6.0s that do alot of short trips will be changing EGR valves very often and the inside of the intake manifold gets very coked with soot, along with the catalytic converter plugging off. On a 6.4 you will have the same EGR and converter issues along with a DPF that loads up faster causing a rapid regen and absolute crap fuel economy. If you have a 7.3 you will have none of these problems

Yeah, but it equates to the mumbo-jumbo that the Battoo spews in all the diesel threads here.......
