Life changing decision
Ok, hears the deal. My uncle has a buddy that rebuilds and mods diesel engines he introduced me to on a business trip last week. We had a gear-head to gear-head conversation and he took us to his shop to show us around. During the tour, I spotted two 1999 7.3L F code powerstorke engines with 4r100 tranny's on crates in the corner of his shop. I asked about them and he said that one was his backup engine and the other was a engine that he built for a customer that never paid him. His engine dyno says that they have over 500 hp. He told me just because he needed the space, that I can have it for $500 bucks. The transmission has been upgraded as well to handle more power and torque and is inculded for an additional $200 bucks. For those of you that know me, know that I am a diehard V10 man, but even I know an great diesel engine when I see one. So if you were me, what would you do? Stay true to my V10 powers or swap over to the "Diesel Side".

Well, I guess I'm going to make a phone call tommorrow. I'm going to see if he has the computer for it also. But if I make the swap, I wonder what I'm going to have to change over you know like fuel tank etc?

I'd be interested in the specs of this "500 HP 7.3" for so cheap... Makes ya wonder, ya know? Oh, and you're probably going to need more than just a computer. It'd probably be cheaper and easier to swap in a Cummins. Less electronics.
Well...if ya want to give up the V10 reliabilty and take a gamble (on a modified engine) and need a diesel for heavy towing..it ain't that much to do so in this case, I guess...hope it works out if you do it

Well, just to give you guys an update: I did buy the enginie and trans, but I turned around and sold it for some nice Christmas money
. It was a hell of a deal, but after some soul searching, I decided that a v10 is best for me. I want to thank all of you for your input
