Question 6.0L Smokes at take-off!! Help!

Hi guys, I'm posting a question for my Dad's work truck...
2004 F-450 XL
6.0L Turbo Diesel
Manual Tranny, Somewhere around 100,000 miles

It's been running pretty crappy lately and had a few problems with it. I had to help him replace the fan belt (been running on like 1/4 inch width of belt for a day), then the alternator puked two days later and it got two new batteries.

So here's the latest issue... If you don't give the engine at least 1,500 RPM before letting off the clutch from a dead stop, it coughs up a huge cloud of white smoke, then you have to let the RPM's drop back down again before it will let you continue your take-off. I guess he cleared out a whole bus stop yesterday lol.

And go figure, my old man is a heavy equipment/diesel mechanic during the day. He just asked if I could find out any problems that these 6.0L's might be prone to, since he knows I do the same thing for my F-150 on here.

We would appreciate any help from you diesel guys! I'll update my story above if I find out I didn't remember it right.
Thanks!!

White smoke you say? Pop open the hood and see if you see any evidence of antifreeze puking out of the degauss bottle. If you do then it is more than likely blown head gaskets. 6.0's are known for it.

EGR cooler.... YOu have to change the oil cooler as well. IF you want to avoid not doing this again, get both from a place calle bulletproofdiesel.com.... I have replaced several EGR cooler and oil coolers and they come right back....
