She died today!!!

The inevitable happened today. After owning my 05 F250 Superduty for 2.5 years, it finally broke down on me. Today on the way to work, I felt a vibration and I automatically thought I had a flat tire. I slowed down and got on the shoulder and the steering starting getting stiff and pooff, out she went. I tried to turn her on and after a long cycle, she did and worked fine. I drove for about 3 miles and it started again. This time, she didn't turn on again. She was towed to the nearest dealer and am awaiting a call on the diagnosis. What do ya'll think it is? I have a feeling it is the fuel pump. The past couple of weeks, at complete stops, she has been fluctuating eratically on occasion. I read some posts here that it could be an injector. 5 days ago, I serviced her by changing the oil, filters and fuel filters. On a good note, she has powertrane warranty till 6/10. Hopefully I wont get one of those calls that says the particular issue is not covered.

I can think of a few things off the top of my head but until the dealer digs into it and reads the codes you wont really know. The possibilities that I can think of are as follows and none of them are cheap repairs.

FICM ($800 just had mine replaced)
HPOP
Injectors ($1300 this is for two that I just had done as well)
Fuel pump
Head gaskets (Has the truck been puking coolant that you know of?)

No coolant leaks. What's HPOP and FICM? The check engine light didn't come on at any time. Wierd!

HPOP- High pressure oil pump that makes the injectors work.

FICM- Fuel injection control module.

Ah, the motor I love to hate. Your rough diagnosis sounds plausible. It will be interesting to see what the technician says after hooking her up. We've got three of those bad boys in the fleet and one of them (an '03 if you really want problems) is a non stop series of "you must be kidding" issues. Good luck!

It may be something simple but there are so many sensors on these engines I am really surprised it didn't have a check engine light on.

Thanks for the info guys and yes, it's a 6.0. As soon as I get the call, I'll let you guys know. The only positive thing to all this is that it still has powertrane warranty. Hope it's covered though.

Still nothing from the Dealer. Service rep says that if the problem is any of the above, it should be covered by the Powertrain Warranty minus the 100 deductible. Hoping that's correct. I'll update you once I hear something. Apparently there's 4 trucks in front of mine.

Still have not gotten my truck back. Apparrently they were backed up at the dealer. Got a call from the Service Rep yesterday who stated it looked like a bad fuel pump, bad #3 injector, and a sensor but that was not the final diagnosis. She said all this stuff is covered under the Powertrain warranty. I'll I had to worry about was the 100 deductible. I'll post the final diagnosis when I get the call today.

Just picked her up. Report says it was the #3 injector, Crand Positining Sensor, and they reprogrammed the computer. I didn't think this would make the truck turn off and not turn back on but, oh well. The good thing is I have her back and all I paid was $100.00 for the deductible. Thank god for warranties. We'll see how she works out.

Glad they got your truck fixed and back on the road.
