Hey guys. I just bought a 03 f250 crew cab fx4. It has the 100th cenntenial package on it. It has the 6.0L. ive heard alot of bad things about this motor. Are there any good things about it? Mine is running great except one thing.
When your driving and get to 50 its fine. but when you accelerate anytime between 50 and 60 it shakes. after 60 it stops. I cant figure out what it is. Any takers???

No not always. I have driven trucks that were like this and had the problem solved by rebalancing and rotating the tires.
Ive heard so much.....from the tires, to drive shaft, injectors, front end, you name it.
If it was the injectors or drive shaft it would happen through out the entire RPM range. Start with the simple things to eliminate and work your way up the chain until you solve the problem.
dsq3973 is heading in the right direction if your feeling it through the whole truck. I have had alot of experince with unbalanced tires in many vehicles and it always started vibrating in the 50-60 range....at speeds under and over that range there was little in no vibration
That is your less-expensive route to check first.

Rotate and balance, then go from there. My truck has a bit of a shimmy from the tires that are on the front right now. I know that when I rotate them it will go away.

ARP Head studs are about 550 and the EGR delete kit is about 400 to 500 depending who you buy it from. And to have the head gaskets done is about 1300 to 1500 because they have to take the cab off to do them.
that sounds like fun. I just found a warranty company that will cover the entire truck for 60 month or 100k for 76 dollars a month. So i am going to get that just be on the safe side with this truck. I am hoping with 120k that all or most of the bad things have been fixed. Ive been told its a good chance that most of it has.
