Installing Shocks (Front)

Previously I had a 97 F-150 and tried to replace the front shocks.. It was difficult to get them off so I paid someone to do it.. NOW I have a 02 F-250 FWD and want to replace the front shocks. From the appearance of the 250, it looks much easier than the 97 F-150 was where the shocks were difficult to get at. Is this a correct assumption? Can it be easily done at home.. ( I have jack / jack stands / pneumatic tools.. Any recommendations on a speciific brand of mid -priced replacement shock. No off roading, but towing a boat.

My 08 is a 4wd, and it has coils in the front. They changed them a few years ago from leafs to coils.

Yup ~ coil fronts for the 4X4 began with the 2005 model year SD trucks

On my 2004, I remove the tires and then 2 bolts/nuts and the shocks come right out.
