Talking

Ok, so I just talked to the guy on the phone, and I got it mixed up its an 01. But either way I talked him out of selling it with the dump bed and that brought the truck back down to 10 grand. Then i managed to talk him down to 8 grand! So Im really excited! Im going to drive the truck tomorrow afternoon. The only thing that Im worried about is that the truck has 78000 miles and its a v10. Ive never had a truck with mileage that high. Im the kind of guy that thinks 100,000 miles is the end of the world. Will the truck hold up? Also, with the v10, will it be horrible on gas? I mean it will be a work truck so its no big deal. I just want to be clear as to what Im getting into, Thanks again guys!

Steve

78k is nothing these days. I remember those days - if you hit 100k, it's shot. Yes, it will be a gas hog, no doubt about it. I'd guess about 14 on the highway and 10 in town.

100K is nothing these days. My truck has nearly 137K on it, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross country right now. My Crapalier beater car has 253K miles on it...

Depending on the gears and how you drive, you could see anywhere from 8 to 14 mpg unloaded.

Ok so i just test drove the truck. The only thing that i can find wrong with it is that there is a blown speaker and that it may need an alignment. Besides the few dings and such that I totally expect in a 8 year old truck, it seems great. No noise or smells, lots of power and torque. im going to have my mechanic look at it in the next few days just to double check and then go from there. But hell, for $8 grand, I cant go wrong!

No, I took the sdvise I got in this thread and told him to take it out. That brought the price back down to 10g and then I talked him down to 8g! Im really happy with the deal I got. Especially since it included an 8' fisher plow w/ snow foil. The truck certainly isnt mint, but for an 8 year old vehicle its great! THe biggest issue is that theres some rust In the doors and on the roof that Im getting fixed asap and the towing mirrors are all messed up so i picked up a pair for 150 on ebay! Again thanks for all the help!
