Where is it located? have an 05 Superduty with a good bulb, no voltage to socket when the hood is opened.

 

Never mind, found it myself, didn't realize it is a gravity switch (mercury based?) built right into engine compartment light socket. Corrosion on the contacts inside the switch. Cleaned them up and it's working great again.

 

Mine did the same thing.
