Saying Goodbye to the 2008 KR... Hello New F-350!
Good explanation, but I am totally confused now. Mine has the switch and the manual hubs as well. I was under the impression that if I lock my hubs manually, then it is in 4wd and the switch doesn't do anything. Am I wrong?
Man, I wish we could get an integrated brake controller and upfitter switches on the '04-'08. Great looking truck. I love all of the door pockets. My grandmother has an '08 F-250 and man does that have some interior storage and room for "stuff". Thought about going white letters in?
I have the Auto-locked hubs with ESOF on my truck... It blows. The auto hubs don't lock automatically, and when you manually lock them, they don't always unlock without some fiddlin'. Gonna eventually get some Warn Premiums in there. Electric switch is ok, but it is picky about going into low sometimes.
Yes, you are wrong. Your front driveline is spinning while the hubs are locked (which is fine), but the connection at the transfer case is not made. That make sense?
Yep heres a few more...In the one pic of the back of the truck you can kinda see where there is no plastic molding where the glass meets the tailgate. Thats just because my dad has the step and ARE didnt have a molding made for that yet but its the same cap that fits the older superdutys so he got the cap and just ran it with the rubber flap that was there till the molding came in

Ok, so if I shift using the switch on the dash, but don't lock the manual hubs, am I in 4wd?
I am not sure on the 08's but the 06's there are two settings on the hubs. There is a locked setting and then there is an auto setting that works like the F150's do so if you turn the switch it automaticly engages and away you go.
that sucks about the MSOS bs, I like the relability of the shifter on the floor, but I dont want to have to stop to throw my rig in 4x4...My work truck has the MSOS and its a PITA going from my f-150 to it...usually just leave it in 4x4 in the winter
Funny part about it, was my dad either realized it while washing the truck or wondered why he burnt through a tank a gas 2x faster...
