08 f250 6.4l diesel throttle lag?

Hey guys, as I just posted a few days ago I just got an 08 f250 crew cab lariat with the 6.4l diesel and so far I love it. It has right at 24k on the clock and looks just like a new one inside and out. I came from an 06 dodge 2500 diesel with the tried and true 5.9 cummins with a 6speed so I don't know a whole lot about the ford yet. My only concern with the truck is it seems to have some throttle lag when you get on it. Don't get me wrong, if you sink it to the floor it will downshift and take off like a rocket but when you initially get onto the throttle light to medium it seems to take a few seconds for the truck to repsond. I guess what i'm trying to say is that it doesn't seem as responsive as I thought it would be. Is there anything that I could do to take care of this? I've thought about a programmer of some sort, but I'm not into cranking up the power and watching my truck fall apart. Any remarks would be greatly appreciated, especially from the guys with experience on this. Thanks!

Yep, all computer updates are current. It's not that bad really, it doesn't seem like anything is wrong with the truck but it sure would be nice to feel some of those 350 ponies when you stab on the skinny pedal.

It's the drive by wire. Computer controls all throttle input.

Oh.

What made you go from the Dodge to the Ford? Did you like the 6 speed stick in the Dodge?

No clue why I switched it up, I guess I got tired of 20+mpg's and wanted something around 12mpg's I was getting tired of rowing the gears every day and I sure like the looks of the 08 fords and all the creature comforts that come with it. The dodge was a great truck but I was able to sell it and and buy the ford with the money I got out of it without throwing in any boot. The dodge had 38,xxx miles and no leather/sunroof and the ford has 20,xxx miles and is loaded out with everything. Seemed like a good deal to me, just not the milage.

Sounds like a good deal to me! The miles are a little high, but at 20,000 miles, it's not even close to being broken in yet. I've had mine for a year and just turned over 7,000 miles on the way to work tonight. I might have mine broken in before the powertrain warranty expires.

Ya, miles are a tad high but they are just a tad above average for an 08 according to NADA. And I wasn't too worried about it because I bought it loaded out for 24,000 bucks. Although i'm a car dealer so I come across deals quite often

my dad has a 08 and i have put ALOT of miles on it... well about 10,000 and alot were under a trailer... anyways. when not loaded it feels the same way. i dont know what it is... im just letting you know that yours is not the only one. im sure it has something to do with the turbo spool up... but with the 08's having a smaller turbo to get things going then a bigger one to keep them going you would think there would not be much turbo lag spooling a smaller turbo. i guess i dont know. but i do have to say for stock it pulls amazing!
