08 Mirror Cap Removal

I want to remove the painted mirror caps and replace them with the OEM Chrome Package ones. Talked briefly to a body shop and they said that they just pop off, but I can't seem to get them loose. Does anyone know how to go about removing these?

Pop off? I had a pigeon go through one of mine, and I went to ford and asked just for the cap.
They said they dont pop off, and that i'd actually have to order the whole dang mirror. That set me back abot $300. And that was before labor.

So I've been told, and I've looked at a parts view and just the cap is a separate part from what I can tell...

I put a marker light on my mirror a while ago. Me being me I thought the cap actually would just pop off. Well it kinda did, but I realized I broke a couple studs that held it to the back of the mirror body. If you look, you can see a screw that holds them on. Or else its something else, but im almost sure its the cover. Now how your supposed to get to it, I wouldnt know. But seeing that back piece did break on me, it shows that it is a seperate piece. But I couldn't just order that so I was screwed. Maybe a ford Mech. would be nice enough to tell you how its done.

Does anyone just sell the chrome cap that would stick on the top of the mirror?

I have been looking but the only ones I find cover the whole mirror....which is a bit much for me.

Want the OEM look but just want those that you apply over the existing mirror.
