F-250 idle

Hey guys... my church owns a 6.0 F-250 along with a skidsteer for missions work (clearing branches etc during ice storms)... the other day I was standing with a guy as he was loading up his luggage in it to take it down for a week to help some folks out and he had just started the engine... after a few minutes the idle speed changed with us just standing next to it and he said it had done something... what had it done?

When its cold the 6.0 will idle up to warm the engine up and get to operating temp faster. This is completely normal for these trucks and some have even gone as far as hooking up the PTO high idle for cold weather idleing and to prevent whats called as wet stacking.

They will idle up automatically when cold and in park. And if you're standing next to a 7.3, it'll start to sound like a jet engine.

Thanks for your answers... I was just curious about it and forgot to ask while we were standing there.
