we just bought a fifth wheel travel trailer and looking at buying a 04 extended cab f-350 with the short box. does anyone know if your still required to use a slider type hitch still to keep the trailer from hitting the cab of the truck? thanks for any info you can share

 

Better to have a sliding hitch and not need it than to save a little money when a back glass is $400 +/-!
I very seldom have to slide my hitch, but it may be the design of the cap on my 05 Gulfstreem Sedona 5vr.

You could have to back up a slope on a tight angle and have no clearance left ...then POP! $$$

get the slider. My F250 has the standard bed and every time I pull ... the slider get used once. and it's that one time per trip that save your trailer nose cone and truck glass. I have the Reese Pro Series 15Kw/ Kwik slide (manual locking). Works great every time.
