Winter cover, what the ....!!!!
Winter cover, what the ....!!!!
My "check air filter" came up, while it was snowing yesterday. I just happened to be around the corner from a dealer, so I stopped in to see what's up.
Mechanic comes out and says my air filter is solid with snow and ice, and I should have my winter cover on.
I thought what the heck!!
Please.
This is the best Ford can do in 2009?
My 06 didn't have that problem.
Now just from the drive home, I have the filter sitting in the house (sink) to thaw it back out AGAIN!
I took a look at my "winter cover"...it is rediculous. I'm not putting that across the front of my truck.
So what do we have now from Ford..
no choice on axle ratio
forced options
crap Continentials
DPF= more fuel$$
and now a front winter cover!
Gawd, I wish I didn't love this truck.

I dont have a PSD, but I feel your irritation.
Everytime it snows, the heater sucks in snow and fogs up the inside of my windshield, has happened many times on the effing freeway. Ford dealer tells me that theres nothing they can do, and told me to do a good job brushing snow away from that damned ice cube tray on the front of the truck.
Rediculous.

Regarding dlenkewich: If it's snowing (or raining) you should use the defrost. Every car/truck that only uses the heater only (not defrost / AC) will experience condensation on the windows inside

Now that's what i'm talkin' about, Pagnew!!!
That's how my 06 used to be too....no trouble.
As I type this, my 2009 air filter is drying out over the furnace register for the 2nd time this weekend, just because it is snowing out!!!
What a friggin' joke..
Here is a picture to be included in the manual, for proper air filter maintenance

Hmm, don't have any issue with that with my truck. Of course, diesels are much more touchy in the real cold weather. Most buses and semi's have those 'winter covers' and it's a benefit.

Weird...had a hayday today (well...snow day in my truck) and didn't experience your situation. Do you have an F250?? Even if it's an F150 I still can't imagine what's doing this unless the belt is slipping and or the compressor isn't turning on...hmmm...is your AC working OK? If so, try putting the AC on and see if that 'clears up things'
You write: "My setting never comes off defrost". Is that your choice or the trucks?
