Question 08 Super Duty console

Hey guys, I was on ebay today and saw some auctions for 2008 Super Duty center consoles. They say that they will fit in 99-07 Super duty's. Has anyone ever install one in an older super duty.

I kinda like the look...but, honestly, I like the open feeling the '07 and prior consoles make the cab feel. I am sure it's just me...but , oh well

I think the only think that I might consider changing from an '08 and later to my truck ('06) would be the power telescopic mirror assemblies...but my mirrors would have to be broken first to do that

Are your current mirrors power and heated?

Yes, but don't the '08's have power telescopic (or extension...whatever?) and folding?

Yes, they are. If you do decide to upgrade, I'd be interested in your old mirrors...

I'll let you know for sure... I do like what I've got so it would have to be a sweeeeeet deal or (as mentioned) a broken 'wing'...

The folding mirrors are definitely a godsend when pulling into my garage every night. Heck, I even fold them in when I am in a tight parking space in a parking lot. They already stick out pretty far, so unless I am towing something really large, I really don't need to extend them.

Yes, the 08 consoles will fit in 99-07 trucks. You can use 2 of the mounts for the console, but I believe the other 2 won't line up. I was looking at doing this mod right after the 08s came out when a few showed up on egay, but unfortunetly the first people selling them caught onto this and jacked the price quick. I haven't wanted to drop the coin they want for them. If I could find one cheap I'd be all over it.

The power telescope/fold mirrors to me are more of a gimmick than what they want for them. I mean come on, $1000 for a pair of mirrors? For that price I'd better get a happy ending. I'll stick with my 08s with everything but that sell for $400 from Ford. The 08s are definetly worth the money. I thought the old towing mirrors were a huge upgrade from the chinsy sport mirrors I replaced, but the 08s are worlds better. I have a hard time going back to our older trucks at work with the old mirrors.

Not really, I like the power folding part. It's a hassel to get out and manually fold 'em in when I go to a car wash or down narrow trails...oh well, exercise I guess

I can fold my mirrors in manual ALOT for the extra $600 they want for the power fold/extend option. Its cheaper to order the option on a new truck, but for those of us that don't want anything to do with new trucks this is what the going rate for the mirrors are.

Though to be honest I hardly ever fold my mirrors. I just made sure I can fit a fullsize truck through my garage door and I NEVER EVER take the 250 through one of the automated truck washes.

My truck can fit in my garage with the mirrors extended, but then I wouldn't be able to fit my wife's Edge, my motorcycle, my son's dirtbike, a large rolling trash can, a large rolling recycling bin, and a whole bunch of other stuff in my garage at the same time. The mirrors must be folded in, and I am way too lazy to get out and fold them.

The new consoles do fit. It bolts right in. Just make sure you get the mounting straps with console. I bought mine off of ebay. The only problem with the console is there is no electrical plug in my 2006 for the cigarette lighter and the arm rest rubs the console. Other than that, it fits perfectly and I like the flat surface.

Update

Yes they do fit perfect. I just installed my 08 console in my 1999 F350 CC today. I have bucket seats in my truck up front, so it made me some extra room without that jump seat I had. All the 08 brackets mounted right up. The console is awesome, plenty of room inside for magzines and cd/dvd's. Gives my truck a new feel! Later I am going to run wire under my carpet from my dash mounted cig. lighter to the power plug in of the console. I may buy the oem male plugin for the 08 console and wire it up. Next mod will be those tricked out 08 tow mirrors.
