2000 F350 question

I'm thinking about buying a 2000 f350 reg cab long box 7.3 powerstroke diesel and was just wondering if anybody knew what gears it might have in it from the factory

You have to look at the label on the door jamb and decode it. Axle codes have been posted quite a few times.

There was no single axle ratio used.

Non dually has a 99.9% chance of having a 3.73LS
Dually will have a 3.73, 4.10, or 4.30.

It won't be 4.30 if its still factory. The 4.30 gears were only available with the V10, and he's looking at a PSD. Over 75% of the dually trucks were 4.10, while most SRWs were 3.73. I wouldn't put any money on it being a LS though. Seems thats more of a crap shoot than anything as there are just as many without it as there are with it.

Geez, how hard is it to send the OP out to look at the label and then look up the code?

Negative Ghost Rider. They were available as part of the Tow Boss package with the diesel, although I"m not sure what years that was available.

To the OP, go look at the axle code and post that up. Or better yet, go look at your rear axle. It should have a tag on it with the rear axle ratio. If its a 3.73 LS it should read 3L73.

I know full well about the tow boss package, and it doesn't apply here, which is is why I never mentioned it. You're right, it WAS available with the tow boss package, but that was never available in 00. Thats an 07, or there abouts vintage. The OP is looking at buying an 00, and in 00 ONLY the V10 had the 4.30 gear option.
