Quick 250 traqns question - HELP!

Saturday I spent the day wrenching on my Brother's 05 F-250 (5.4/auto) swapping out almost all of the fluids. At his insistence I changed the trans filter, which was nothing more than removing the pan, pulling the old filter out and putting the new filter back int. A small gasket holds it in place. I torqued the bolts back down to 10ft/lbs, the gasket was between the pan and trans.

This morning he was on the way home and got the flashing like of "Oh fawk". There was NO FLUID on the dipstick. Before you ask, we took 1.5 gallons out and put 1.5 gallons back in. The fluid was dead center on the COLD reading according to him. It's his truck I believe he can read a dipstick. He said he put over a gallon of fluid back in this morning. WTF? He ran his truck at the house and there were no problems, he drove it around for 100 miles before this appeared. There are no visible signs of leaking according to him. The fluid went somewhere, so WTF did it go and how do we stop it from going there?

I asked if he loosened the trans cooler lines by mistake when he was changing the PS fluid and he said he hadn't. I personally took the fluid out of the trans, and personally poured it back in. I even took 1qt back out as I overfilled it by that much. (he gave me bad info on its capacity). THe truck was not started when it had too much fluid in it. I just went underneath with a funnel and bottle and drained a quart out.

He's coming over this afternoon so I can look at it. Any ideas? I spoke to him in the phone a few minutes ago, he didn't just dump in a gallon plus of fluid. He checked - added, checked - added, until it was full.

WTF? There is no way the torqu converter leaked down that much is there?
