new truck.

i am thinking about getting a 08 f250 with the 6.4l. i was just wondering what people are getting for mpg. and i have heard that you cat chip them with out voiding your warranty? is this true? there is no programmer out there that get you more power and better mpg and being completely removable. so the computer doesn't know that there was a tune? if this is true can you take me to school on why?

thanks alot

Yep. You mod a truck that portion of the warranty is void pure and simple! Some dealers look the other way, but far more are not doing that these days. Its up to you if you want to gamble away the warranty on a $50k truck with a $10k engine. If you want to play the engine mod game, buy a Cummins.

There's a guy named Julian over at www.powerstroke.org who is getting 18 MPG with his F350...and his truck dynoed at 426 HP and 745 ft-lbs of torque. This is after removing the DPF and installing a tune that turns off the regen cycles.

i have been doing a lot of reading about mpg and the dpf. i would love to get ride of the dpf, but i don't want to void my warranty. so i am going to stick it out till than, but once its up i am going to get ride of it! so let me see if i get this right. the more miles you have on your truck the better mpg you get. is this right? and if so at what point do you start to get good econ. why don't you get a higher mpg right away? also if you can keep your foot out of it and keep the boost down you can get 18 or so mpg on the highway?????

sorry i am new to diesel and want to learn more.
thanks for your input.
