Need Help with choosing

I am looking now at F-250's to replace my F-150 to better tow my trailer. I have 3 diesels in mind. All 4x4.

2001 55k miles
2003 53k miles
2006 55k miles

The 2001 is cheaper than the others, but about the same amount of miles. My wife doesn't like the idea of buying a 7 year old truck, but I think a truck is as old as its miles. Someone help me out with the argument with the 2001
it's obviously cheaper.

If it was me personaly I would have no problems buying the 2001 because it has the 7.3 in it and it hanldes mods a little better than the 6.0. Also the if the 2003 has the 6.0 I would steer clear as that was the first year for that engine. The 2006 would be my next choice for a diesel but the 6.0 still doesnt like mods that much. I would have to compare the 7.3 to the Chevy 350 it been around along time and they are damn near bullet proof motors and its mod friendly.

With a 7.3, wouldn't that suck some Fuel ? And i'd think tow capacity would be better too.

The fuel mileage shouldnt be that bad with that motor. I have heard of people getting mid 20's unloaded and probably 13 to 15 loaded. I know there are alot of diesel guys on here with alot of knowledge but I would check this site out if you want to learn more about the Ford Superduty diesel trucks. http://www.superdutydiesel.com/forums/

Anytime. I spent along time on that forum just reading before I made the decision to even look at a diesel truck.

No. You'll see 16 -20 MPG on the highway doing less than 72 MPH.
Is the 2003 truck a 7.3 or 6.0?
