vegetable oil for fuel!!!

well i was tired of paying so much for diesel over a year ago! i started looking into bio-diesel and other alternative fuels. i came across a kit i liked that ran strait veg oil heated in its own tank. i finally bought and installed it this week after alot of research and talking with other people who have already done it. i am getting my used oil for free from places that fry alot of food. one of the tricks was finding the ones who used 100% vegetable oil. you still have to filter it like if you were going to make bio, except when you get the big stuff out, it is pretty much ready to use. now just to see if it works as advertised. has anyone else gone this route, and what do you think? i will try and post my findings on mpg, hp, and torque after running it for a while.

I think you should be ok... just make sure it is FILTERED well.

I know of a guy who runs pure biodiesel... in fact, I think I posted something about him a few weeks ago. It was quite interesting.

Really, there is nothing special about it... that's what makes it a better vehicular fuel than e85 for example.

They can make a 5% diesel with a 95% vegetable oil blend, and it will work even in the coldest of climates without much of a hassle.

But down south, you can run 100% vegetable oil.

The key is making sure it is filtered.

I can tell you that veggie oil will burn a LOT cleaner than diesel.

Seeing that your truck is a 2002 and is most likely out of warranty, you can try this kind of thing. I can tell you with absolute certanty that if you try this with a new 6.4 liter Powerstroke, the engine ceasing to function will only be the beginning of your problems. Ford will void your warranty. So, be careful!
