"05" F-350 Trubo Diesel warm starting problems

F-350 Turbo Diesel Troublewshooting Start-up

I have a 2005 Ford F-350 Turbo Diesel w/ 78K miles, the vehicle starts when cold but once warmed up restarting is a problem unless some type of starting fluid is used.
All filters have been changed in the last 6 months
This could be a really bad situation if my wife were to drive to the 7-11 and turn the vehicle off, it will not restart w/o starting fluid.
HELP!!!
Call me if you have experianced this problem and know the fix. Bill 757.449.8723

Starting Fluid for Diesel - Gasoline?

Is it dangerous to use a rag soaked in gas placed in the breather duct to act as "starting fluid" for diesel engines???
It works like a champ...

Sounds like a broken STC fitting on the back of the high pressure pil pump. Low ICP pressure when warm.

it says on the air filter that you should NOT use starting fluid, ether, ect. that would be a very bad idea.

Because if you spray ether into the engine while the glow plugs are on the it could cause damage.

in addition, youll notice diesels dont have any fuel in the boosted air untill it enters the cylinder, where it explodes. not sure if im right, but ether or what not could damage the turbo as well as ignite pre-cylinder. either way, you should not be doing that on a truck 2 years old. its on warranty. get it fixed.

man starting fluid is a very bad idea for newer diesels. it was common place for older ones to use all the time, but now days it's not. 78k miles you should still be under warrenty. contact your dealer. starting warm should never be a problem. cold starts can be trouble sometimes but not warm ones. you might have a bad seal somewhere that is expanding after it warms up and lets air go by. it will probably be tough to trouble shoot. good luck and let us know what you find out.
