opinions please 7.3litre power stroke

Hi all,

I sure could use some advice. I now own an 03 F150 extended cap flareside, 5.4 triton. In another tread I had posted, I had concerns about a trailer I have purchased and am concerned my truck won't be happy towin it. I am pondering upgrading my truck now. I have found an a 1999 F350 dually 4x4, 126,000kms ( canadian sorry ) with a 7.3 power stroke turbo diesel. anything I should be worried about with that particular motor?. They are asking $16,999 thereabouts and based on a value find my truck has a median $15590 so I would think it would almost be a straight trade. Not that that is probably going to happen thou the way these car dealers think. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank-you.

I have a 2001 F-250 with the same engine,,,,126,00km is a low milage motor for these things, they are very tough and will pull their weight several times over.
if it's permissable here,,,there is a diesel site with much more info about these particular trucks

Other than the 5.9L cummins, the mighty 7.3L PSD was the last of the real diesel greats with old school reliablity, tuneability, and big block torque. If the tranny shifts smooth and right, sounds like you have found a nice truck

While STD.com has a lot of info, some friendlier, less pissy drama site are www.oilburners.net, and www.thedieselgarage.com

The 7.3L and the 12 valve cummins were in my opinion the best diesels ever made by far.

Somehow don't think anyone is going to find any info on diesels as STD.com. Are you trying to tell us something about yourself?

the great 7.3L

like everyone else, i feel the 7.3 is one of the best in all fields. i have an 02 with 147k miles (good old american). the only problem i had was the camshaft position sensor. one bolt and about 10 min and it was changed. a great one to invest you mony in.

I wouldn't worry about it either. If you want to ease your mind, check the service records, or contact the previous owner.
