Hello. I have a 2005 F-250 Diesel Lariat with the climate control system. I got in my truck today and noticed that it did not turn on and wasn't displaying the outside temp. It also will not respond to any of the buttons and I cannot get anything to display on the front..... It's like it's totally dead. The fans don't work at all. I took a look at the fuse (I believe in position 23) under the dash but it looks good. It's like it lost all power. Any ideas??

Thanks for all your help. I'm on a roll this week, my F-150 check engine light came on and my Ford Focus ignition went bad... must be the weather!!

Wow, what a streak of bad luck...

Try disconnecting the batteries for about 1/2 hour, and then reattach them... it should reset them.

I reseated fuses 24 and 34 on the recommendation of a friend and it seems to be working again... Strange but as long as it works I'm happy!! Now on to the F-150 and Focus issues... ;-) Thanks again!

 

Yeah...kinda trippy...Today as I was going down the road I heard a 'whirring' or 'groaning' sound under my dash while I had the defrost on (7 degrees F outside). As I cruised down the road it would make that sound at light throttle - low RPM - ...kinda weird as it was sounding like it came from the dash, but I played with the throttle and it come and went as I cruised - or slid - down the road. It works fine so I figure it's the nature of the beast....who knows.

Anyway, hope it keeps workin' for ya!

 

By reseating them, when you pulled them out and put them in, it did the same thing as pulling the battery cables... just a whole lot easier. Basically you just reset it from the sound of it.

This is a known problem.

turn your lights on and off....then press Auto on the AC/Heater...should come back on.

If it doesn't, pull over, turn the truck off, and then back to on but don't start, turn the lights on....leave on for a few seconds, turn off....then crank the truck on, then press auto on the AC/Heater

 

Fun day yesterday. I had been to the VET for my Lab that was attacked in our yard by a Pit Bull. Then had to take my youngest daughter to the Doc again for strep/virus. On the way home, I was on the phone with my wife and tried to turn the heat on to keep the little one warm. Nothing happened. After a couple of miles of continually pressing buttons on the climate control, answering countless questions from my wife about my daughters office visit, constantly hearing "I'm hungry" from the back seat (heck, I was pretty darn hungry myself), I answered my wife with a few select words that didn't seem to be what she wanted to hear. Somehow, after getting a short lecture, this tip (lights on, lights off) popped in my head. I tried it, then pressed floor heat and it started working. I then tried to explain to my wife what a valuable resource this Forum is.

Even though this thread is a year old, thanks for the tip.

Yeah, sorry about the dog and the kiddo...we are fighting strep for the 3rd time in 45 days...one more round and the 5 year old's tonsils are coming out...fun times.

As for the forum, yes it is a valuable source...I was simply passing along a tip I got here on the same subject. Glad it worked for you.

I have only had to use that trick 2 times in my truck..works like a champ.

Wow Rock, I was going to post that fix...but I thought I had discovered it!
I never knew it was a known fix.
It happened all the time on my 06, and just by a fluke I turned the lights on and off, then pressed Auto. Worked every time.
I thought it was just me.
