2005 F-250 Rust in tailgate.

Hi guys. I haven't posted here in quite a while. Anyway, I have a 2005 Diesel F-250 Lariat Crew Cab with quite a bit of rust on the bottom edge of the tailgate. Nothing through yet. My question is, what kind of rust warranty does Ford have on these trucks? I bought it brand new. Thanks. Bugman.

If you are in the 3/36 they should give you a new tailgate.

I think it's 5 years regardless of miles...

The book says:

" Corrosion coverage (which lasts up to 5 years, regardless of miles driven) only applies if the corrosion causes perforation (holes) in sheet metal panels. If the corrosion does not cause perforation (holes), and it is not the result of usage and/or environmental conditions, paint damage is covered under the terms of the Bumper to Bumper Warranty (3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first)."

Thanks. It figures that the warranty does not cover surface rust. I'll drop my tailgate off at the body shop next week. Thanks again. Bugman.

Bugman....In reading the sentence -

If the corrosion does not cause perforation (holes), and it is not the result of usage and/or environmental conditions, paint damage is covered under the terms of the Bumper to Bumper Warranty (3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first)."

Unless your over 36k maybe this might apply to surface rust too. Honestly, I don't know. The other part of the sentence 'and it is not the result of usage and/or environmental conditions' might negate this.

Take it to the dealer and maybe they will help (unless of course it's over 36k). But, hey, you never know....maybe they can help....

Good Luck, man!

I have almost 90,000 miles on my truck but, I will call the dealer that I bought the truck from and see if they can repair it.
