Put in an order today for an '08 FX4!

Finally decided not to get one of the '08's on the lot because of three things... it had two tone paint, didn't have the powerscope mirrors and didn't have the sunroof. We weren't in any kind of a hurry to get into a new one, so I went ahead and ordered one. I just hope the rebates are as good or better in 4 months when it arrives.

Here are the specs...
2008 supercrew V-10 FX4 Shortbed
Red w/ 18" wheels
4.30 limited slip
Black leather interior w/ captains chairs
memory and heated seats
power telescoping mirrors
tow command system
4X4 electronic shift on the fly
Molded black cab steps
power slide moonroof
reverse sensors
adjustable pedals
tailgate step
stowable bed extender
audiophile stereo upgrade
upfitter switches

The first mods will be to paint the bumpers and fender flares red to match (XLT Sport clone), add a spray in bedliner, install an alarm/autostart and tint the front windows.

I should be out about 38000 for the truck after 3K in rebates, does that sound about right?

Hmm.. sounds good. Good to see some people supporting the WSG-1068...

You will be happy with it... especially with that engine and the 4.10s.

More than likely the following...

1. Cheaper.
2. Less maintainance.
3. Less maintainance costs.
4. 2 more cylinders is more fun.
5. The fact that the they are smarter than a person buying a diesel.

Diesel fuel no longer has the benefit of being cheaper than gas. Also, when my Ford salesman of 16 years tells me that his diesel '08 is getting 10-12mpg, and also shows me the $6500+ increase in price, it was a no brainer. The V-10 has enough torque and power to pull everything I plan to pull.

D, the 5K sounds good.

We are keeping the LT, but it will probably be parked most of the winter. I think my tranny is starting to slip, so I might take the time to get a beefed up tranny installed before summer rolls around.

FWIW, If you change your axle rating to the 4.30 axle ratio your front axle will be upgraded from a regular Dana 60 to a beefier Dana Super60. This is a little know secret that only applies to F-250/350 trucks with the V-10/4.30 combo and it started in MY2005. The only other trucks to get this front axle are F-450/550's albeit in a wide track version.

Congrats!

I bought mine off the lot only because the Dealer was really willing to deal! How's this sound , 2008 F250 XLT super cab, 6.8L v10, power pedals tow command system, 18 in prem. forged aluminum wheels, 5in. chrome tubular step bars, tail gate step, two tone paint, 38 gal gas tank, key pad on driver side door, anti theft ignition, etc. This was the truck I was looking for except for no up fitter switches, can get them on ebay, plug right in.

window sticker 39,180
negotiated selling price 36,685
-4000 rebate
-2700 owed to me from trade(05 escape owed 11,300
trade given 14,000)
= 29,985 + tax title plates 32,000 and some change
out the door.
I at least feel like I did pretty good! What do you all think?

Oh, you will love the V10!! The wife decided to keep the F150! Pics of both in gallery.

Haligan, the wife surprised me and said she wanted a lift on this truck, so with the larger tires, I will definately be going with the 4.30 gears. Thanks for that info!

Jimmy, sounds like a hell of a deal. I'm happy to hear good reports on the V-10. We have a 2000 F250 with the V10 and it is okay, but the new style is much better. My dealer told me I have until Tuesday to get all the details squared away, then the order will be set. I'll be seeing him at 9am tomorrow!

How does the V-10 do on mileage. I don't really need that much of a truck, but bigger is better.
