04' F-250 6.0...have you had trouble?

04' F-250 6.0...have you had trouble?

I'm thinking of buying an 04 250 4x4 with the 6.0 and torqshift automatic, it only has 41,000 miles on it....... the motor is covered until 09' or 100,000 but nothing else unless I buy the extended warrenty....... has anyone had any problems with the auto tranny or transfer case in this type of truck??? Thanks for your time..........

You won't have any problems with the transmission or the transfer case. I'd be more worried about the motor.

yeah, that motor kinda sux in the injecter dept, but the warrenty should help you out man.

They are truly hit and miss. I know of several people with tons of miles of heavy towing and absolutely NO issues at all.

On the other hand, word is the 6.0 had some serious reliability issues upon release. It's a crap shoot!

you are better off trying to find a late 05 or late 06 build on this 6.0 engine.

Like others said, its a total crap shoot. If you don't know the owner, or know if it was programed or chipped, i would stay away...and or ask for an Oasis report on the Vin. Ford will give you for free. It will list all the work done on the truck.


My .02 worth.

I already checked it out, only work has been an EGR valve replaced at 40,000 miles, no other problems........I can go back and take out a bumper to bumper 36/36,000 mile warrenty if I go back before the truck reaches 65,000 miles

I thought you said it was covered til 100K?

7month with my 05 an no issues at 44K miles... Only issue I have is finding money to mod this puppy!!! Oh and trying to get my MPG's outta the crapper..

I like powerstroke.org as well...
