With a 7.3, I would get a little nervous anything after 150K but that is just me...i trade more often that that. But seriously,I went to the dealer the other day, and I guy there had a 7.3 with 300K miles on it...regular maint..farm truck, lots of pulling.

Truck looked ok, engine was brand new.

That 7.3 is a good engine.

The last 7.3 I had, I ran well over 250k miles. Really the only things I ever had to do on that was replace the glow plugs and ancillary electronics for them, and water separators (several)

For the motor? 500K miles
Automatic transmission? 150K miles

I'm sitting at 110,700 right now, and just took it to California and back. Not afraid to take it anywhere else, either.

If it's properly maintained, a 7.3 PSD can be a relatively reliable & problem-free engine well past 150K. My buddy's '97 International flatbed has a 7.3 PSD with 248K and it runs like a top. We recently sold an E-350 box van/truck with a 7.3 PSD that had 250K and all it needed was the #7 injector replaced.

FYI
I have a service rep that covers most of the western states with a E-350 service van with a 7.3. Last time he was here we were talking about his work truck and he had over 500,000 on it with two transmisson changes and regular service. The company was buying him a new van and he was going to buy his old van as a personal rig.

Arrow 7.3

My dad is the service manager at a local ford dealer, and I worked there for 3 years... the 7.3 diesel will run FOREVER if you maintain it properly. We have a guy with a crew cab long bed dually 350 with the 7.3l, it had 750,000 miles on it on original motor and trans. That was over 6 months ago.... he hauls across country pulling for FEMA (pulls a 5th wheel trailer). There are MANY loyal customers I know of including MANY city, county, town trucks such as 350/450/500 dumptrucks, flatbeds, road work trucks with 300,000+ on them... so dont be scared of the 7.3...just take care of it. The 6.0L is a piece of SH*T though, has so many injector fouling problems, turbo pipe rot, electrical problems, etc that motor should be recalled completely.

Hope it helps...and by the way, NOTHING I have said was exaggerated.. contact me with any questions...

Roger
