My brother has a 1999 F-250 XLT with the V10. It has those pathetic looking little side-view mirrors. He tows stuff all the time, and he wants the towing mirrors. We both agree that it would look better.

Can we install these oueselves? The regular mirrors he has are power with no turn signal. We want to replace them with the towing mirrors (power, no signal). Where can I get these and how difficult are they to put on?

Not sure on the wiring part, but the bolt on install part will only take about 5 minutes. Just pop off the black cover on the interior of the door and remove the bolts.

I know it will look better also.

 

It should be a direct replacement... not too sure about the wiring but it can't be too hard to figure out...

Haha I'll mention it to him. I think your beat up bumper would look better than those puny mirrors...

 

The 08 heated, power folding, power telescoping mirrors like I have on my truck are over $1000.

 

Keep in mind that the plug will be different for the 02-04 mirrors than they are for the 99-01 mirrors. Basically if the mirror has the forward breakaway then it'll have the newer style plug.


$70 per mirror is cheap for a power glass and manual extension.

 

Yea $70 isn't bad at all. I paid $60 for my F150 mirrors.

 

Well, the seventy dollars was a price my brother said he was told. It was dead wrong. Stopped by Ford today... $336 per mirror (power, no signal, manual telescoping).

I was planning on buying them for my brother and suprising him... now I'll just tell him how much they are.

I love the guy, but not that much.

 

I retract my bumper statement. That's more per mirror than it would be for my front bumper.

I had to replace a mirror on my '99 F150 and it was around $300, and that was power w/o signal or heating.

Don't buy those. I did and is what I have on my truck. The large glass shakes so bad from wind going down the road that I usually end up driving by my spot mirrors. Those are replications of the factory mirrors, not the real deal. My advice, spend the cash and get the genuine deal.

The other thing that worries me is that they say it fits 99-04 trucks and thats not right. They'll bolt on, but the wiring is not the same, so its not a plug and play deal. Its no big deal if you're decent at wiring, but you'd have to cut off the plugs on both ends to make it work (if you get a 02-04 for a 99-01 truck or vise versa).
