I am looking for the same info. I purchased an OEM overhead console direct from Ford, no directions with it, can't get directions from online support or through the dealerships. They can only give me a diagram of the install for the overhead console that has the temp/compass, I have the larger more common unit that has the one door and large opening in the back. I need to know how and where to cut into the headliner to properly hit the mounting point to the ceiling support holes.

Since I have a factory moon roof, I have the smaller console with just 2 map lights, 2 switches, and roof control. I grab it on the back side nearest the windshield and pull straight down. It is held in by friction clips. On the longer one like you guys have, it probably has a black phillips head screw somewhere helping to hold it up.
All the one's I have seen previously went over the roof liner. I sure wouldn't start cutting anything yet! Look for a hole in the console that looks like it would help support it, but that is common sense, so no offense guys...

The mount for the larger console has 2 push in clips that "should" be near the windshield frame. The other end has a large lip that clips either into the headliner or ceiling above headliner. Not one screw or place for a screw in the mount for the console. It almost looks as if the entire headliner has to be dropped to be able to install the large plastic mounting frame, then reinstall the headliner, then the console will clip onto the mount. A little more complicated than I want ot mess with right now.

Why dont you go to a local Ford dealership and see if you can borrow a Tech book, those books have every peice of information on how to remove replace and install everything. I just had to go to riata the other day to get the door removal instructions to make sure I did it right while replacing my broken door lock. If you can't find one let me know and I'll go to Riata when I'm cleared to go back to work and get the instructions for you.

I have gone to the dealership service dept., they are more than happy to install it for the labor cost, but would not offer up any install information.
