Recently I had a problem where the odometer, speedo, and inside lights would not work ( 97 F250 PSD 4x4 HD). It also would not shift up from first. I stopped and added two quarts of trans fluid. The other problems went away on restart.
I have been watching it, and it has not need much if any fluid since, and running fine.
Today once again the odo is off, the speedo and inside lights off, everything else seems ok. I did not chance driving it to work, and I am wondering what the heck is going on?
Is there an emergency mode or a limp mode that the truck will go into when the tran fluid is low? What else could cause this?
since i didn't drive it, I am not sure about the shifting, but it did need a small amount of trans fluid.
