Need Advice on Truck Upgrade

Ok, so I'm looking at purchasing a Montana 5th Wheel (4-5 slides) to live out of while at work since I live 315 miles north of my job. I'm not sure on the exact trailer, but I figure most of the upper level 5th wheels would be around 12-15K lbs?

I currently have a 2005 F-150 SCrew that I don't even want to think about attempting to pull this with, so I need some advice on what I should upgrade to. I more than likely won't pull very often, since I can drive my work F-150 home and back most of the time, leaving my personal truck and 5th wheel at my job. However, there will be times I'd pull it back up there, or to other destinations.

What gears/engine should I look for? I want to try to wait for the 2008 model, but I don't know what pricing will look like then. I'm eligible for X-Plan pricing, but even with that, buying a $40-$45k truck and a $40-$50k trailer may break the bank.

HELP!!!! Thanks in advance!

I am happy with my 06' 6.0L F350 powerstroke. I tow about 10k with out any issue. It drives very nice, has no problem passing or climbing hills. The tranny control works great, downshifting when braking or when coasting down a hill if speed starts to rise. Very stable handling. 12-15k looks to be quite normal behind an F350 (not sure of the max, I know it alot more than what I tow though) Fuel economy is also decent when towing, I get around 10mpg towing, without a programmer. Mine has 3.73's which is standard.

Go for a diesel, and 3.73 gearing would probably be perfect.

The 08 sure is spiffy...especially that new 6.4, but you could probably save some cash on the 6.0.
