Water in fuel ind

My water in fuel light keeps coming on. Do I need to change the fuel filters? When I drain the "water in fuel" plug, the light goes out for 23 miles then comes back. Does lots of fuel come out when you change the filter?

Thanks!!!!!

On the 7.3L, the filter bowl/water in fuel seperator is one unit and requires a fliter change and the bowl being completely drained of fuel.

Haven't had the chance to poke around a 6.0L.

This is on a 6.0L not a 7.3L so they are 100% different. There is the unit down on the frame where you drain. It will drain a decent amount of fuel and can get messy if you aren't prepared. As I recall there is a TSB out about this. Might consider checking with your dealership.

There's a service message for an updated fuel manifold assembly.
