6.4? They are not out yet, the 07's you see on the lot are identical to the 06's still. As I understand it, January 08 is the latest rumour on the 6.4 release.
Unless he had some sort of a demo from Ford for testing. We need details. Did you take pics?

Exactly.

They just started running some test models down the line a few weeks ago.

Late '07 as an '08 in the target release date for the 6.4L Powerstroke. They're still having driveability problems with them, so they pushed the release date back even further than originally anticipated to avoid a fiasco like the 6.0 liter Powerstroke release, and to train and equip dealers to work on the beast (something they didn't do initially with the 7.3s and 6.0s).

300K on 06 ???

Cyclone,
300K on an 06 ? Work the math... That's 1,000 miles a day, 7 days a week...
That's 20 hrs a day @ 50 MPH average everyday for 300 days straight...
I don't think so...

Maybe it was a 1906 model.

truck was a 06, most likely built in late/early 05 as a 06 and the 300,000 were miles not km, this was a US truck and according to the fellow driving it, He was from Texas, the 07 F-350 had twin turbo's were booth RV batteries reside, maybe it was a after market deal...

The body style was the same as the 06

My Dad is considering hauling and towing campers trailers with his truck ) F-350 ) from the sates up into Canada when he retires, when your driving for a living 12 to 13 hours a day and going across booth the US. and Canada and if you have a partner, it's not hard to put the miles on.

Again, given that you'd be doing it as a commercial venture you'd be required to carry DOT numbers and keep a log book. This will limit you to 10hrs a day driving.

I'm sorry but I still don't buy your story one bit. 300k is not really a feasable number for a tad over one year. I also doubt that Ford is realeasing their test mules outside of the organization. I work with prototype equipment every day (ag equipment) and I'm currently in the field with 2 pieces right now. This equipment never goes unattended for anymore than a day at a time, and this is not super sensitive equipment. Anything slightly sensitive in nature gets watched like a hawk. I highly doubt that Ford would let this engine out of its sight for that long of a period.

over the road drivers (such as my dad) can drive legally for 11 hours and be on duty not driving for 14.. and then they are required to take a 10 hour break on line 2:sleeper birth.. I.E a commercial driver is on duty for 14 hours and can legally drive only 11 hours within that 14 hours... and since its all paper logs you can cheat HOWEVER since my dad pushes for werner and werner is all electronic logs HE cant cheat

P.S doing some quick math 70mph x 11hrs = 770mi x 30days= 23,100mi x 12months =277,200 miles a year
and if the guy had a partner... double the 11 to 22 and you end up with 554,400 miles a year ..
if it were just him and he did a consistant 80mph the numbers come out to 316,800 miles a year
im leaning more towards that he had a partner to reach 300k miles in a year.. which after doing the math doesnt seem that hard to do, does it?

I was sure that DOT regs were for 10hrs. At least thats what I think our log books say. The 10hr could also be company mandated which actual being 11. That mileage is also dependant that the truck is driving the 770 miles each day, and he would have to have a load or a long dead head in order to keep that up. Thats not taking off any holidays, waits for loads, breakdowns, etc. Is it theoretical, yeah, but is it probable, it's one heck of a stretch.

New hours of service for INTERSTATE drivers is 11 driving in a 14 hr work perod and 10 off. Your clock is reset to 0 with 34 consecutive hours off duty.
