Aaronlake or powerstroke

I have a quick question for either one of you. I've received my AFE and can't wait to tackle another project on my truck of which I have no clue what I'm doing. Anyway, the directions mention disconnecting the battery cables but does not specify whether they mean + and - or just both - cables as we have two batteries. It states that the reason is to reset the computer. I know this is probably a stupid question but I just want to make sure I do this install correctly and do not end up with a check engine light. The install looks to be fairly easy so I feel confident but just not sure on the battery cables.
I'll post a review on the AFE after I get it in.

Thanks guys
Scott

Disconnect the negative (black) cable, and turn on your headlights.

Headlights?

why do I turn on my headlights?
I seem to remember reading somewhere that you are supposed to reset the computer when having an aftermarket exhaust installed. However, after mentioning this to the tech who did my 04 F-150, he told me that you should never disconnect your battery unless you have to. ?????

Yup, disconnect the negative cables, and let it sit overnight. Reconnect in the morning and drive as you normally would. The computers "learn" your driving conditions, and the way you drive will change with exhaust or intakes, etc. You will have more power so it will take less TPS opening to achieve the same acceleration. Reseting the computer allows the computer to optimize fuel and timing for the easy inhale and exhaust of the engine. Just remember to write down all of your radio stations first!

Good luck Scott, you'll be fine. Let us know how that engine sounds now that it is uncorked!
