Cummins Diesel conversion

Last week I was talking to a fellow who pulls heavy concrete equipment around the country with a F-550 with a 6 liter. After complaining of multiple problems and poor service around the country, he said he had heard of someone who was making a conversion kit to put a cummins engine in a ford truck. My son who is a ford diesel service rep, said he also had herd of this but didn't know anything about it. I was wondering if anyone else had heard about this and how to find out more.

I thought by the time you reach 550s and up, you can get Cummins, Caterpillar, or Navistar diesels in them when you order/purchase one?

No, an F450 and F550 can only get a V10 or 6.0L diesel. You can't get other engine choices until you make it up to the F650 and F750 trucks. The company doing the Cummins conversions is www.fordcummins.com Expect to pay upwards of $10k for the conversion.

No, they had a small ownership share a long time ago, but that time has passed.

As stated, at one time many many moons ago Ford owned a few shares of Cummins, but that was sold off LONG ago. Ford also does not hold any controlling interest or anything even close in Navistar. The two companies are pretty much in bed with each other, but none has their financial claws in the other.
